Chatham-Kent police spotted a man Thursday morning on Wellington Street West in Chatham and scooped him up on outstanding warrants related to break and enter investigations.
A 26-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: theft, possession of stolen property and two counts of mischief.
Bail violations, missed court dates
In one case, police on Thursday arrested a woman for violating conditions of her bail, as well as skipping out on a court date.
Back in February of 2022, the woman was arrested and charged with mischief, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. She was subsequently released with conditions prohibiting her from communicating with a man and attending his residence in Chatham.
Yet on Thursday morning, about 11 a.m., police went to the man’s residence, responding to a disturbance complaint, and found the woman there.
Through investigation, the officers confirmed the conditions were still active and she was wanted for failing to attend court.
A 54-year-old Chatham woman was transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.
Around the same time, a man went to the courthouse in Chatham and an officer confirmed he was wanted on a warrant for not appearing at a previously scheduled court date.
A 32-year-old Toronto man was arrested and released with a future court date. He is currently facing the following charges: dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, impaired driving, failure/refusal to comply with a breath demand, take a motor vehicle without consent and two counts of mischief.
Less than two hours later, police began a probation violation investigation in Blenheim after receiving information the woman attended an address that she was prohibited from attending.
At 4:54 p.m., police located the woman on Talbot Street West in Blenheim and arrested her.
A 27-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was transported to police headquarters, where she as held pending a bail hearing. She is currently facing the following charges: failing to comply with a probation order, theft and two counts of possession of stolen property.
