Intimate partner violence
A Chatham man faces numerous charges in the wake of an intimate partner violence investigation Monday.
Officers began their investigation shortly before 4 p.m.
By 8 p.m., they had a suspect in custody.
The investigation began in Blenheim, and the officers went off in search of their suspect.
At 7:55 p.m., police attended an address on Patteson Avenue in Chatham and located the man.
A 28-year-old Chatham man was arrested held pending a bail hearing. He is charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, failing to comply with an undertaking, criminal harassment and two counts of assault.
Theft and possession charges
At 3:15 p.m., police responded to Jeffery Street in Chatham to investigate suspicious activity.
Upon arrival, officers located the woman and confirmed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant for theft.
A 39-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and released with a future court date. She charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
Resisting arrest
A local man faces theft and resisting arrest charges following an incident at a St. Clair Street business Monday morning.
Police got the call shortly after 11 a.m. Officers learned a man entered the store, removed items from the shelves and exited without paying.
The man was located nearby, but attempted to flee from custody by pushing the officer, police say.
A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and held pending a bail hearing. He is charged with theft, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
Bail violations
A Chatham woman faces compliance and breach charges after a police investigation Monday.
Police say the investigation revealed the woman, who was bound by an undertaking with conditions, contacted a man she was prohibited from contacting. The man was also bound by conditions not to communicate with the woman.
Officers contacted the woman who agreed to turn herself in upon returning to the area, police say.
However, rather than go straight to police headquarters to do just that, apparently she went to the man in question’s home on Raleigh Street shortly before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Police were called and quickly located the woman attempting to flee the area.
A 31-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and held pending a bail hearing. She is charged with two counts of facilitating a breach and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
Missed court dates
For anyone who doesn’t seem to know, and apparently, at least according to the police media releases we are seeing, that’s a lot, but the Chatham Court House is located at 425 Grand Ave. W.
That said, Chatham-Kent police charged three people on Monday alone for failing to attend court.
And it’s not like people are keeping a low profile while missing their court dates.
Shortly before 7 a.m. Monday, police were called to Morning Glory Lane in Chatham to investigate suspicious activity.
Officers arrived, located the man in question and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.
A 47-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He faces charges of assault with a weapon, failing to attend court and two counts of uttering threats.

Three hours later, a man walked into police headquarters to turn himself in.
Police say the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in January.
A 40-year-old Glencoe man was arrested and released with a new court date. He is charged with possession of stolen property, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and two counts of using unauthorized plates.

And at 1 p.m., an officer on general patrol conducted a traffic stop on King Street West, near Robertson Avenue in Chatham.
Through investigation, the officer confirmed a woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant failing to attend court.
The 30-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She is charged with assault, mischief, and failing to attend court.
DNA warrant arrest
Police conducted a well-being check on a man on St. Clair Street in Chatham about 5 p.m. Monday.
Officers located the man and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
A 49-year-old Chatham-Kent man was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released unconditionally.
