Assault, forcible confinement

A Chatham man has to answer to intimate partner violence charges following an incident on Monday.

Police investigated the incident, which took place on Lacroix Street in Chatham.

Officers learned an argument between the man and the woman escalated when the man took the woman’s phone and attempted to prevent her from leaving. The man fled the home prior to police arrival.

On Wednesday afternoon, a 36-year-old Chatham man was located and arrested. He is charged with assault and forcible confinement.

Apparently a Tilbury man didn’t get the memo.

At 8:55 p.m., an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

Upon conducting a traffic stop the officer learned the man driving was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle and bound by a probation order.

A 38-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a probation order, driving while prohibited and two counts of driving under suspension. He earned a future court date, while the vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days. 

More missed court dates

The skipped court arrests parade continued on Wednesday, beginning shortly before  1 p.m.

At that time, a woman walked into the courthouse in Chatham and was arrested on an outstanding warrant for missing her court date in late February.

A 27-year-old Wallaceburg woman faces charges of theft, possession of stolen property and failing to attend court. She was held pending a bail hearing.

About 20 minutes later, police located a man on Degge Street in Chatham and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

A 33-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. 

He is charged with failing to comply with a probation order, assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats and two counts of failing to attend court.

Wednesday evening, about 7:30 p.m., officers located a man on Queen Street West in Chatham. They confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court and arrested him. 

A 41-year-old Wallaceburg man was released with a future court date where he is to answer to a mischief charge.
