Woman uses mace, arrested

A Chatham woman has to answer to charges after someone sprayed mace in the face of a woman recently.

Chatham-Kent police say the incident took place Feb. 13 in Chatham, where one woman assaulted and sprayed mace on another woman.

On Saturday, police arrested and charged a 29-year-old Chatham woman for assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and administering a noxious substance.

Assault with a weapon

A Chatham man is facing assault charges after someone hit a man with a wrench on the weekend.

Police got the call shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Saturday for the altercation.

A 47-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault with a weapon.

Sleeping in an elevator

A Sunday morning check on a guy sleeping in an elevator in downtown Chatham has led to charges.

Police checked on a man who was reported to be snoozing in the elevator of a Fifth Street building in Chatham Sunday morning.

An officer attended and confirmed a warrant was issued for the man in January for breaching his conditional sentence order.

A 36-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held for a bail hearing.

Alleged Wheatley thief arrested

Essex OPP had a Sunday afternoon gift for Chatham-Kent police: a suspect.

The OPP contacted local police Sunday afternoon to say they had a man in custody who was wanted on outstanding warrants related to a Feb. 28 theft investigation in Wheatley.

A 30-year-old Wheatley man is charged with theft, possession of stolen property and wearing a disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence.
