B&E arrest

He may have fled the homeowner, but police say they tracked down a suspicious person wanted in connection with a theft last year.

On Tuesday afternoon, police responded to a residence on McGregor Line to investigate suspicious activity. Specifically, a man was found hiding on the property and fled after being confronted by the homeowner.

Through investigation, officers identified the man and also connected him to a theft the middle of August last year.

On Friday, the man was located on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg.

A 23-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property.

Two nabbed for violations

Two people face charges after Chatham-Kent police initially just went to check on what was reported as an abandoned vehicle.

At 7:50 a.m. on Thursday, police responded to the call of an abandoned vehicle on Colborne Street in Chatham. Officers arrived on the scene and located a man and woman inside.

Through investigation, officers learned that last August, the man was arrested for bail violations. He was released with conditions and a future court date, which police say he did not attend.

A 38-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a new court date. He currently faces the following charges: possession of stolen property, theft and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Officers also learned the woman had been arrested by the RCMP in Bridgewater, NS last April and was released with conditions prohibiting her from leaving the province and communicating or associating with anyone who has a criminal record.

A 33-year-old woman was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Skipped court date

It took well over two years, but police say they have someone who missed a 2021 court date in custody.

On July 5, 2021, the courts released a man with a condition to reattend later in the month. When the man failed to make that court appearance, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Thursday morning, the man was located on St. Clair Street in Tilbury and arrested.

A 35-year-old Tilbury man was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. He currently faces the following charges: two counts of failing to attend court.

Bail violations

More than six years ago, a man entered a Peace Bond with a condition to complete specific programs outlined by the court.

When the man failed to complete these programs, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Late Thursday morning, the man attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned himself into the police.

A 31-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and released with conditions and a future court date of March 25, 2024. He currently faces the following charges: breach of recognizance.
