• If you have completed jigsaw puzzles, trade them for a new-to-you puzzle at Chatham-Kent Public Library’s (CKPL) Jigsaw Puzzle Swap! Ridgetown Branch of CKPL will host a jigsaw puzzle swap on Thursday, February 29 from 12:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday, March 1 from 12:00 to 5:00 pm. Participants will receive a voucher for each puzzle they drop off during library hours. Puzzles must have no missing pieces and be in good condition. Children’s puzzles in good shape are also welcome. Vouchers can be redeemed to “buy” a new puzzle on February 29 or March 1. Only voucher holders will be allowed to participate in the Jigsaw Puzzle Swap. Any puzzles that are not selected by the end of the event will be put in the Ridgetown Branch Book Sale, where the proceeds will go towards future programs. • Kent Branch of the Ontario Genealogy Society meeting from 7:00pm-8:00pm. Speaker:   Cameron Alam. Title: Storytelling Our Ancestors: Genealogy in Fiction. Cameron Alam will bring us along on her journey to discover the ancestor who would become the fictionalized protagonist in her book, Anangokaa. What began with an Ancestry DNA test led to correspondence and meetings with distant cousins, a journey to Cameron’s ancestral birthplace, Isle of Mull, Scotland, archival and historical research, travels to the land her ancestors settled in Upper Canada in 1804, called Baldoon, and culminated in her writing her debut novel. Bio: Cameron Alam is the author of Anangokaa, a Kirkus starred-review novel and chosen among The Miramichi’s Review’s Best Books of 2023. • Chatham-Kent Public Library’s Wallaceburg branch is excited to announce a special March Break ‘Learn to Curl’ storytime in partnership with the Sydenham Curling Club (SCC). This program will take place at the Sydenham Curling Club, located at 7379 N River Line in Wallaceburg. An interactive storytime will be followed by an opportunity for kids to learn the basics of curling on the ice with an SCC’s Little Rocks instructor. The event will take place from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, and is directed toward children ages five to eight, but all are welcome. Only children over the age of five, with a signed waiver, will be permitted on the ice. Children who are going on the ice must have clean indoor shoes and a helmet.
