Collision leads to impaired charge

A Chatham man faces impaired charges following an crash Sunday afternoon.

Police were called about 4:20 p.m. to the intersection of Erieau Road and Middle Line.

No one was hurt in the crash.

Through investigation, police say a 44-year-old Chatham man was found to be operating his motor vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol, and was arrested.

The accused was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters to provide breath samples. The accused’s breath results were more than double the legal limit, police say.

Warrant arrests

On Sunday morning, at about 6 p.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to an alarm at a Richmond Street business in Chatham.

When officers arrived, they spotted a U-Haul with two women inside the vehicle. One, police say, had an outstanding surety relief warrant.

Officers arrested the Chatham woman and she was remanded in custody.

Officers patrolling Wallaceburg Sunday afternoon scooped up a pair of people wanted for outstanding warrants.

The first took place about 1 p.m., as an officer spotted a woman who police say was known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply (twice) and assault.

A 49-year old woman was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

Just 20 minutes later, an officer spotted a Wallaceburg man who police say was known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply and impaired operation.

A 44-year old male was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

A suspicious person report led to the arrest of another person Sunday night.

Officers went to a Grand Avenue West address about 7:40 p.m., and located a man who was wanted on an outstanding DNA warrant.

A 42 year-old man was arrested, DNA was obtained and he was released subsequently.
