Reading is fun – and it can be even more fun in a competitive way.
That’s the idea behind the second annual Clash of the Classrooms Reading Challenge hosted in partnership with Chatham-Kent Public Library and Lambton County Library.
Through this program, both library systems hope to strengthen students’ love of reading.
Elementary and secondary school classes are currently being invited to participate in the Clash. Teachers are invited to sign up their class for the challenge through Beanstack – a web-based tracking service that enables individuals and groups to easily track reading progress.
From Feb. 5 to March 8, teachers can use Beanstack to report their class reading progress. Classes will earn badges for reaching milestones and completing activities. Any time students spend reading inside and outside the classroom can be added to class reading totals.
Two elementary classes and one high school from each municipality, with the most minutes read, will win a pizza party! As well, one elementary school, one high school and one homeschool group from each municipality will win a cash prize for most collective minutes read.
