A total of 29 teams took part in the seventh annual Polar Plunge at Sons of Kent on Saturday, raising $63,000 and counting for Special Olympics.
Afternoon temperatures hovered at about -10C.
The funds raised are earmarked to help fuel the Special Olympics Ontario School Championship Games, being hosted in Chatham-Kent this summer. The last time the region hosted the games was 27 years ago.
To date, fundraising efforts have netted nearly $370,000, in just eight months’ time.
