Anger boils over

A Chatham man faces charges after Chatham-Kent police say he assaulted two people Wednesday evening.

At 9:49 p.m., police responded to a motel on Grand Avenue East in Chatham for an assault investigation. 

Officers learned an argument between two men escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in minor physical injury to the victim. The man also assaulted a woman who was present, police say.

A 60-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm and two counts of assault.   

Domestic assault charges

A Dover Township man faces charges following a physical altercation between a man and a woman Wednesday night.

At 10:13 p.m., police responded to Winterline Road in Dover Township for a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, officers learned an argument between a man and a woman escalated when the man struck the woman.

A 24-year-old Dover Township man was arrested and charged with assault.

Purchases made while woman was hospitalized

A woman faces charges in the wake of a fraud investigation by police.

On Dec. 22, police began the investigation on Taylor Avenue in Chatham.

Police learned while the victim was in the hospital, several unauthorized purchases and withdrawals were made using the victim’s debit card, and several items were missing from the woman’s apartment. Through investigation, the police formed grounds to arrest the victim’s neighbour.   

On Wednesday, the neighbour, a woman, was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
