SheLeads – a made-in-C-K movement to empower and uplift local women – is gathering steam.

Heading into 2024, the effort is building on the success of its inaugural event last year by launching a new mini-session series dedicated to helping women succeed.

Monthly sessions will be held to inspire, educate, and empower women, and those who identify as women, providing the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to flourish. Guest speakers, interactive workshops and networking opportunities will be included in the initiative.

Chatham-Kent Coun. Allyson Storey will kick off the SheLeads series on Jan. 11, speaking on the topic of Empowering Women in Politics. The event will be held at at 111 Heritage Rd. in Chatham in Suite 104 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

SheLeads co-founder Randi Bokor Caron said the organization is honoured Storey will share her insight.

“We are elated to be launching our 2024 SheLeads mini-session series with our friend and role model, Coun. Storey,” Bokor Caron said in a media release. “Alysson is an advocate for all women in Chatham-Kent and we know her session will be enlightening. We can’t wait to pick her brain about being a woman in politics.”

According to organizers, the SheLeads mini sessions are a direct result of the overwhelming success of the first SheLeads one-day conference held last July. The effort is volunteer driven.

The free SheLeads sessions are possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Mainstreet Credit Union.
