Bail, then jail

A Blenheim man faces charges after police say he violated conditions of his bail last fall.

Police say the courts released the man in late August with conditions prohibiting him from being outside his residence between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. without his surety.

In mid-September, less than a month after his release, officers conducted a compliance check on the man and found him breaching this condition, police say. A warrant was issued for his arrest when he could not be located.

On Sunday morning, shortly before 7 a.m., police responded to a residence on Ingram Street in Chatham for an unrelated matter and located the man.

A 39-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with failing to comply with a release order and held pending a bail hearing.

Threats uttered, man charged

It took nearly a month, but police tracked down a man wanted in connection with a threat investigation.

The investigation began Dec. 13.

Through investigation, the officer discovered the man had entered a residential building on Fifth Street where he did not live and had been approached by the victim. The man made several comments threatening the victim, police say.

With the assistance of surveillance footage, the man was identified. A warrant was issued for his arrest when he could not be located.

On Sunday, police located the man on King Street East in Chatham and arrested.

A 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of uttering threats.

Warrant arrests

At 9:32 p.m. Sunday, Walpole Island Police Service located and arrested a man on an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court.

A 34-year-old Walpole Island man was issued a new court date, and released.

At about 4:20 a.m. on Monday morning, Windsor Police Service located and arrested the man on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. Chatham-Kent Police officers attended and continued the arrest.

A 37-year-old Chatham-Kent man was released with a new court date.
