Man clonked with wooden board
An Ingersol woman rang in the New Year by allegedly hitting a local man with a wooden board.
At 8:02 a.m., police responded to Jeffrey Street in Chatham for a disturbance.
Upon arrival, the police learned of an argument between the woman and a man escalated when the woman struck the man with a wooden board, police say. The man sustained minor physical injuries.
Police discovered a peace bond and probation order prohibited the woman from possessing any weapons.
Shortly after 10:00 a.m., the woman was released with conditions and a future court date. The conditions prohibited her from attending the address on Jeffrey Street and communicating with the occupant.
Upon release, the woman went directly back to Jeffrey Street, police say.
At 10:15 a.m., Officers re-attended and arrested the woman.
A 26-year-old Ingersol woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, failing to comply with a probation order, breach of recognizance and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Possession of stolen property
New Year’s Day did not begin well for a local man.
At 7:05 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
Officers arrived on the scene and confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant concerning a December break-and-enter investigation.
A 35-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with possession of stolen property.
B&E charge
A Wallaceburg man has to answer to multiple charges following a theft investigation.
On Dec. 30, police responded to a business on Herbert Street in Wallaceburg for a theft investigation.
Officers learned surveillance video captured the man entering the business several times over the past two weeks. Each time he removed property from the location, police say. The man was identified, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Monday evening, police found the fellow on Oak Street in Wallaceburg.
A 33-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with adult disguise with intent to commit a criminal offence and three counts of break-and-enter.
He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Skipped court date
A Tilbury man faces a slew of charges following some late-night yelling in that West Kent community.
On Jan. 2, at 12:39 a.m., officers investigated the yelling on Prospect Street and Elm Street in Tilbury.
