Anger issues?
A man scooped up by Chatham-Kent police Saturday night for intimate partner violence faces another charge after police say he freaked out and beat up a telephone.
On Saturday, about 11:45 p.m., police arrested the man on New Scotland line in the former Howard Township on an outstanding warrant related to the intimate partner violence charge. He was taken to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
The next morning, shortly after 10 a.m., while on the phone in the booking room, police say the man got angry and smashed the phone, before turning towards officers and suggesting he would get physically violent, before relenting.
A 42-year-old Chatham-Kent man was re-arrested and charged with mischief. He was held again pending a bail hearing.
Assault in Wheatley
A Wheatley man faces charges following a couple of incidents in that community Saturday night.
Police got the call shortly before 11 p.m. for a disturbance at a multi-unit residential building on Erie Street North in Wheatley.
The officer learned the victim was leaving his apartment when he encountered the man. The man assaulted the victim, police say, leaving minor visible injuries to his neck.
A short time later, the man went back to the victim’s apartment and forced his way inside, resulting in damage to the door. Once inside, the man continued to damage the victim’s personal property, police say.
On Sunday afternoon, shortly after 3:30 p.m., police arrested the man on Erie Street North in Wheatley.
A 44-year-old Wheatley man was charged with assault causing bodily harm, break-and-enter, and mischief.
Warrant arrest
At 4:10 p.m. Sunday, officers located the woman while investigating an unrelated matter on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Officers confirmed the woman was wanted on several warrants, and she was arrested.
A 39-year-old Chatham-Kent woman currently faces the following charges: possession of unmarked cigarettes, theft, possession of stolen property, failing to comply with an undertaking, two counts of failing to attend court, and four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Bail violation
On Monday morning at 2 a.m., an officer on general patrol conducted a traffic stop on Thomas Street in Chatham.
The officer discovered the woman driving had a suspended driver’s license and was wanted for bail violations.
A 30-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She currently faces the following charges: possession of a controlled substance, two counts of driving while under suspension, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order. She was held pending a bail hearing.
