Stubborn, and charged again
A Chatham man who was already facing domestic violence charges apparently couldn’t stay away, despite what the courts said.
Back on June 7, police say the man was arrested for intimate partner violence and released with conditions, including not communicating with the victim.
On Tuesday, police say the man attempted to contact the victim via Facebook. The investigating officer located the man at his home on Michener Road in Chatham and arrested him.
A 55-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date.
Domestic assault
A Wallaceburg man has to answer to assault charges following an altercation Tuesday evening.
Shortly before 8 p.m., police responded to a home on Duncan Street in Wallaceburg for a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers learned a man and a woman had argued, but it escalated when the man threw the woman to the ground and struck her, police say.
A 36-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Bail violation
A local woman wound up back behind bars after police say she did not comply with her release conditions.
In August, the woman was arrested and released with conditions, including to reside at a particular address, be at that residence between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., and present herself at the entrance at the request of a peace officer.
On Dec. 3, at about 2:15 a.m., police received information the woman was not abiding by her bail conditions and began an investigation. The officer attended her listed address and confirmed she was no longer residing there. A warrant was issued for her arrest when she could not be located.
On Tuesday, shortly after 6 p.m., the woman was located at an address on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg and arrested.
A 60-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
