Assault charges

A Wallaceburg woman faces assault charges following a Tuesday night altercation in that community.

At 11:07 p.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to Wallace Street in Wallaceburg for a disturbance.

Police learned two women were arguing when things escalated. The victim attempted to disengage by going to another room and closing the door. The woman pushed her way into the room and assaulted the victim, police say.

The woman was located and arrested.

A 23-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with assault.

Skipped court dates

A Wallaceburg man turned himself in on Tuesday after missing a court date last month.

Police say it stemmed from a June 3 arrest for possession of a stolen tractor. He was released with conditions and a court date.

On Oct. 4, police say the man failed to attend a scheduled court appearance, and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Tuesday afternoon, the man walked into police headquarters.

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with possessing stolen property and failing to attend court. He was held pending a bail hearing.

A Glencoe man faces additional charges following a recent arrest by the OPP after police say he skipped a court date as well.

In July, a Chatham-Kent police officer received a stolen vehicle alert through the Automated License Plate Reader as they patrolled Lacroix Street. The flagged vehicle was parked in a parking lot.

Through investigation, the officer determined the plate on the vehicle was reported stolen from Mount Brydges. The man was arrested, and a summons was issued with a court date.

In late October, when the man failed to attend court, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Tuesday evening, the OPP arrested the man on Oil Springs Line in Oil Springs and turned him over to the Chatham-Kent Police Service.

A 40-year-old Glencoe man is charged with possessing stolen property and using plates not authorized for the vehicle. He was released with a future court date.
