There’s a new face at the helm of the Chatham-Kent Public Library.

Veteran employee Heidi Wyma has been appointed as CEO and chief librarian, according to a news release from the municipality.

Wyma, a native of Chatham-Kent, brings more than 25 years of experience in library systems to the job. She’s held the post of manager of support systems for CKPL for the past 13 years.

CKPL board chair Robert Clarke said Wyma is well prepared for her new job.

“Heidi has a strong foundation of people and library management skills that are well suited to this position,” Clarke said.

C-K’s director of community culture and connections Audrey Ansell also acknowledged Wyma’s expertise.

“Heidi’s experience at both CKPL and the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, as well as her connections with the wider public library community, mean she is knowledgeable of the climate within which public libraries operate today,” Ansell noted.

Wyman holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Western Ontario University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Ottawa.

The new CEO will take on the role Dec. 1, replacing Tania Sharpe who is retiring after 30 years of service to the Chatham-Kent’s library system.
