Caught in the act

Two Windsor men face charges after an overnight theft investigations in Tilbury.

Chatham-Kent police say they received a call from a Queen Street North business owner about 3:30 a.m. Friday. The owner said two people were taking items from the loading dock.

When police showed up, one man tried to run. Officers arrested the man after a short foot pursuit.

The second man was located nearby and arrested. The two men were transported to police headquarters.

Two Windsor men, aged 41 and 49, are charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of break-and-enter tools.

They were both held pending a bail hearing.

Assault charges laid

A Chatham man has to answer to two charges of assault with a weapon.

Chatham-Kent police say on Thursday about 12:30 p.m., an officer spotted a suspect from an Oct. 29 incident walking on Prince Street North in Chatham. The officer recognized the man from previous encounters and confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

A 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon.

Road weary effort leads to charge

A Chatham man faces charges after police say he laid down boards with nails in them across a local street recently.

Police got the call shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday to Partridge Crescent in Chatham.

The officer discovered that on Wednesday, the man allegedly rendered the street impassable by laying wooden boards with nails and a large railway tie across it.

A 30-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with mischief.

Missed court date

Police officers caught up with a Wallaceburg man on Thursday, who they say missed a court date in relation to a 2020 investigation.

Late Thursday morning, officers went down Arnold Road in the former Chatham Township to investigate a report of suspicious activity.

They arrived on the scene and spotted the man.

Officers confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and released with a future court date.
