There’s a new twist to Chatham-Kent’s budget process.
This year, council and staff are taking on the task of developing a multi-year budget covering 2024 to 2027.
The process kickoffs Nov. 15, when the draft budget will be presented to council, marking the beginning of a review process that offers opportunity for public input.
The budget will be tabled at 6 p.m. and will be immediately available for viewing at chatham-kent.ca/ourbudget.
A brief summary of the draft budget will be presented by administration at the beginning of both of the community consultation sessions, slated to take place Nov. 22 from noon to 1 p.m. and Nov. 23 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Council will begin deliberations Nov. 28 at 6 p.m., and will hold meetings at the same time on Nov. 29 and 30.
If more time is required, time has been set aside on both Dec. 5 and 6.
Groups and organizations wishing to make funding requests must do so at the opening night meeting Nov. 15. Written submissions must be sent by e-mail to ckfps@chatham-kent.ca before noon on Nov. 13.
Anyone wishing to make a deputation can do so on opening night Nov. 15 or on the first night of deliberations Nov. 28. Requests and submissions must be sent by email to ckfps@chatham-kent.ca before noon on these dates.
Additional comments can be submitted by mail to Budget & Performance Services, 315 King St. West, Chatham, ON N7M 5K8 or by phone at 519-360-1998.
All budget meetings will be held in person at the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre and live streamed on YourTV CK’s YouTube channel.
The two community consultation meetings will be held virtually.
