They just didn’t listen
Two people who were not supposed to be near one another, according to the courts, apparently disregarded the law recently.
A Chatham man and woman face charges after police found them in a vehicle together.
Police say back in February of 2021, the woman was released on conditions, including not to associate with the man or possess drug paraphernalia.
And on Oct. 24 of this year, the man was released on conditions, including not to associate with the woman.
Yet, on Monday morning, about 7:30 a.m., officers spotted the man and woman in a vehicle together.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested them. During the arrest search, police say the woman was found in possession of suspected Oxycotin and drug paraphernalia.
A 39-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was charged with driving while under suspension, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
A 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply with a release order.
Both were transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Not so neighbourly
Police say they arrested a man in his neighbours’ home Monday morning.
Officers got the call shortly before 9 a.m. to a Talbot Street East residence in Blenheim.
Officers arrived learned the residents had woken up to their neighbour in their home. The man left upon being discovered.
Officers located the man and he was arrested.
A 54-year-old Blenheim man was charged with being unlawful in a dwelling.
Just stay home
A Chatham woman faces charges after police say she did not abide by her release conditions.
On Sept. 18, the woman was released from custody with conditions to remain in her residence with specific exceptions.
On Monday, police received information the woman was not complying with this condition, and began an investigation. By mid-afternoon, officers located the woman on Riverview Drive in Chatham and confirmed the bail violation.
A 36-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was charged with failing to comply with a release order and held pending a bail hearing.
