Meth, coke found; man arrested
Chatham-Kent police tracked down someone wanted on warrants, and added a drug charge in the process Thursday.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., after receiving information on their suspect’s whereabouts, police responded to Merritt Avenue in. The man was wanted on multiple warrants.
Officers found the man, but police say he tried to run. The attempt failed.
As officers searched him during the arrest, they found suspected methamphetamine and cocaine were found on his person.
A 38-year-old Harwich Township man was charged with two counts of possessing a controlled substance in addition to his previous charges related to failing to comply with release orders. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Warrant arrest
An officer spotted a familiar face Thursday morning and stopped for a chat.
The officers confirmed the man was wanted on outstanding warrants, and the man was arrested.
A 46-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with failing to attend court, two counts of possession of stolen property, two counts of theft, and four counts of failing to comply with a probation order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Skipped court date
After missing a court date this summer, police caught up with a local man Thursday, and kept him behind bars until his bail hearing.
Back on June 2, police say the man was arrested and charged with mischief after he broke a window at a residence on Merici Way in Chatham. He was released with conditions and a future court date.
When the man failed to attend court to face this charge, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Thursday, officers located the man on Colborne Street in Chatham, and he was arrested.
A 45-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
