Woman charged with robbery

A local woman faces robbery charges following an odd incident Tuesday on St. Clair Street.

Police got the call shortly before 11:30 a.m.

Officers learned the woman entered the store and staff suspected her of theft, police say. When she was asked to leave for this reason, she demanded money. When the employee refused, the woman walked behind the counter and demanded money again. When the employee refused again, she backed them against a wall and assaulted them, police say.

The woman left the store but was located by police.

A 44-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was charged with robbery and transported to police headquarters. She was held pending a bail hearing.

A local man faces additional charges after police say he violated his probation order.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to 100 King St. in Chatham over a report of a man pestering patrons.

Police arrived on the scene and located the man. Officers confirmed he was bound by a probation order not to attend this address. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

A 32-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with failing to comply with a probation order. He was held pending a bail hearing.

Another Chatham man faces failing to comply charges following an incident Tuesday night.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., police responded to a call of a man banging on a door of a woman’s residence on Thames Street.

Officers learned the man had been released in mid-August with a condition prohibiting him from attending the address.

Police found the man outside the residence and arrested him.

A 31-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. He was held pending a bail hearing.
