Youth spotted with a handgun, arrested
A Chatham teen faces charges after Chatham-Kent police received a report of a person walking around with a handgun Thursday morning.
At 7:49 a.m., police responded to St. George Street in Chatham. Officers quickly arrived on the scene and located the youth in question.
Through investigation, it was determined that the youth was in possession of a BB gun. Officers also discovered the youth was bound by a probation order prohibiting him from possessing a firearm.
A 16-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with failing to comply with a probation order, possessing a firearm, and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Egg toss causes serious harm
Chatham-Kent police ask for the public’s helping tracking down someone who tossed an egg out of a car, striking a pedestrian in the eye last month.
On Sept. 9, about 11:10 p.m., a vehicle was headed south on St. Clair Street in Chatham when one of its occupants chucked an egg at a pedestrian, hitting the person in the eye.
The incident took place near the intersection of Oxley Drive, and the victim was taken to hospital with severe injuries.
The vehicle is described as an older model, square-body pickup truck with a chrome grill.
