Possession of stolen goods

It took nearly two months, but Chatham-Kent police have laid charges in relation to a mid-August robbery.

Back on Aug. 15, police responded to a robbery at a home on Peter Street in Chatham.

Police learned the masked suspects stole a large amount of money and the victim’s wallet from the home.

In the following days, investigators monitored victim’s debit and credit card activity.

On Aug. 27, the man used the debit card to make several purchases throughout Chatham. Investigators obtained the stores’ surveillance footage and identified the man. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Wednesday, police located the man and made an arrest.

A 45-year-old Chatham man was charged with five counts of unauthorized use of a credit card and five counts of possessing stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Skipped court date

A missed court date has led to additional charges against a local woman.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, police say the woman was located by an officer on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

The officer confirmed the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court concerning a fraud charge.

A 29-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and released with a new court date.
