Chatham-Kent firefighters continue to battle a blaze at A. Gold & Sons on Queen’s Line just west of Chatham this afternoon.
Whitney Burke, a spokesperson for C-K Fire & Rescue, said all full-time firefighters have been called in to battle the blaze, with the support of nearby volunteer stations.
She said the fire involves several scrap vehicles on the property and is producing thick, black smoke.
No injuries are reported.
“It’s an extremely complex fire,” Burke told The Voice. “There are multiple scrap vehicles on fire and large amounts of black smoke. We’re dealing with a lot of wind and very hot conditions.”
She advises people living in the area to close their windows and doors if they see the smoke close to their home.
