There’s nothing like a hot summer evening at the Dresden Night Market.
Set for Saturday, the annual tradition continues with a host of activities for all ages.
According to co-organizer Morena McDonald, the event will be packed with local vendors, food trucks, live art performances and top-notch musical entertainment.
The Dresden NIght Market, which runs the summer event and a Christmas night market, has been named to the Top 100 of Festivals and Events Ontario at the agency’s annual conference in March.
McDonald said food trucks and lawn games will be set up in Jackson Park, plus a range of beverages will be available at the pop-up bar.
The event also serves as an opportunity for local organizations and charities to get their message out and they are allowed to set up booths for free.
“We’re hoping to help raise awareness and to encourage people to volunteer,” McDonald explained.
Environmental awareness is also part of the Night Market experience, she said, adding the re-usable cup initiative is back.
Customers can purchase a green cup and get a $1 off at any food truck item, for doing their part. The green idea started at last year’s market.
“We noticed right away that it cut a huge amount of waste,” she added.
Free water stations will also be provided in order to reduce the number of throwaway plastic bottles. Visitors to the Night Market are encouraged to bring their own water containers.
McDonald said The Nobodies will be the feature band in the afternoon, with Superfly taking the stage in the evening.
