Three killed in Wallaceburg crash

Chatham-Kent police are still piecing together what happened in a crash Sunday night in Wallaceburg where three people died and another is fighting for her life.

Police say the tragedy occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg at the intersection of Wallace Street. The collision involved a car and a tanker truck.

A 23-year-old Wallaceburg woman was driving a vehicle containing four other occupants on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg. The vehicle entered onto McNaughton Avenue and struck a tractor trailer which was northbound on McNaughton Avenue, police say. 

The driver, along with a 24-year-old Wallaceburg man and a 24-year-old Wallaceburg woman, who were passengers, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. 

A 25-year-old Dover Township woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a London hospital in critical condition. 

The fourth passenger, a 22-year-old Wallaceburg woman, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported via ambulance to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.  

The driver of the tractor trailer sustained minor injuries and was transported via ambulance to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
