Officer kicked, woman charged

A local woman faces several charges after a domestic dispute on Baseline Road Monday evening.

Chatham-Kent police arrived at the home and learned a woman entered the residence of her ex-boyfriend and would not leave when directed. 

When an officer attempted to arrest the woman, she resisted and kicked the officer several times, police say. 

A 26-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was charged with unlawfully in a dwelling, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.  

Domestic violence 

A Windsor man faces numerous charges following an incident that took place over the weekend.

On Sunday morning, Chatham-Kent police began investigating an assault that occurred earlier that morning at a residence on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned the man entered his ex-girlfriend’s home without permission, and confronted her. The two engaged in a verbal argument that escalated when the man struck the woman several times, police say. 

The man was bound by conditions not to communicate or be within 100 metres of the woman. He was also wanted for failing to attend court.    

On Monday morning, shortly before 10 a.m., Windsor police arrested the man and shipped him to Chatham.

A 37-year-old Windsor man is charged with failing to attend court, failing to comply with a release order and breaking and entering committing assault. He was held pending a bail hearing. 

It took three years, but… 

Early Tuesday morning, police located a man on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg. Officers confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant related to an assault investigation in 2020. 

Upon a search, incident to arrest, the officer located suspected cocaine on the man’s person. 

A 41-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with possessing a controlled substance, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon.
