Three men, 18 charges, two guns
A trio of young local men face a dozen and a half charges following a traffic stop on Gray Street in Chatham on Monday.
Chatham-Kent police say the officer detected a strong smell of marijuana and then spotted what looked like a Glock handgun in the vehicle.
The vehicle occupants, three 18-year-old Chatham men, were arrested. However, police say one of the males attempted to flee but was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
Police searched incident to arrest and located a second handgun and an amount of controlled drugs and substances.
The three males were charged with 18 separate offences, including firearms offences and possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking.
Wire theft attempt foiled
A Highgate man faces charges after someone tried to make off with some wire from an industrial compound on Horton Line Tuesday.
Police responded to a break and enter complaint into a business. The victim observed a suspect on video in the compound attempting to remove wire.
Police attended and located a 41-year-old Highgate man hiding among spools of wire. The male was known to police and was arrested and charged for break and enter.
He was transported to CKPS headquarters and held for bail.
