Venturing where he shouldn’t

A Dresden man faces charges after Chatham-Kent police say he went to a Wallaceburg address that the courts said he needed to stay away from.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to Westcourt Boulevard in Wallaceburg for a breach of probation investigation. Police received information the man was bound by conditions not to communicate with a woman or be within a specific distance of her home.

Officers arrived and located the man at the woman’s residence. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

A 39-year-old Dresden man was charged with breaching a probation order and held pending a bail hearing.

Clothing stolen, woman charged

Police responded to a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham for a shoplifting investigation on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers learned the woman entered the store on Tuesday evening, at approximately 6:40 p.m., removed clothing from a rack and concealed it in a bag. The woman left the store without paying for the items, police say.

She was identified through surveillance footage.

Police confirmed the woman was wanted in several other investigations and bound by a probation order.

A 36-year-old Chatham woman was located and arrested. She was charged with failing to comply with a probation order, two counts of failing to attend court, three counts of theft and three counts of possessing stolen property.

Warrant arrest

Early Thursday morning, shortly after 3:30 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Officers confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to weapons prohibition and failing to comply with probation charges.

A 36-year-old Dresden man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was held pending a bail hearing.
