A Chatham councillor’s bid to have local splash pads opened earlier to help youngsters beat the heat is currently being reviewed by administration.
Coun. Brock McGregor brought the issue forward at council in March to see if the municipality could get splash pads opened earlier and closed later in the season considering summer is longer and temperatures are hotter.
The motion was given unanimous support from the rest of council.
McGregor said he’s been asked by members of the community as to why the popular splash pad at Kingston Park opens two weeks later than other municipal splash pads.
Chatham-Kent parks, recreation and cemeteries director Robert Pollock said a staff report would be prepared but likely wouldn’t be available to council until July or August.
