A Chatham man faces charges after a stolen vehicle passed an OPP cruiser Thursday morning.
According to police, the vehicle was on Communication Road, when the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system advised the officer in the cruiser that the vehicle had been reported stolen.
The officer turned in pursuit.
While attempting to evade police, the stolen vehicle collided with a residential fence near Silvana Drive in Chatham, police say.
Following the collision, the driver exited the vehicle, and after a brief foot pursuit, the individual was taken into custody without incident.
A 34-year-old Chatham man is charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a schedule 1 substance (meth), five counts of operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited and two counts of driving while under suspension.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and later remanded into custody.
