Laptops stolen from school

On Sunday, Chatham-Kent police received a report of a break and enter at A.A. Wright Public School in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, it was determined that sometime over the weekend, someone had broken into the building.

Nine MacBook laptops and nine iPads were stolen. The total value of the electronics is estimated at $9,000.

Warrant arrest

On Sunday, just after 11 a.m., while on patrol, an officer spotted a man on Wellington Street East in Chatham known to have an outstanding warrant.

A query of the man by police confirmed two warrants to be in effect for Failing to Attend Court and Failing to Comply with an Appearance Notice.

A 37-year-old man was subsequently arrested by police and transported to headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing.

That same day, less than an hour later, another officer on patrol in Tilbury spotted a man on Mill Street West known to have an outstanding warrant with the Chatham-Kent Police Service.

Police proceeded to stop the man and confirmed through investigation that he was indeed subject to a DNA warrant.

A 36-year-old man was ultimately arrested and transported to police headquarters for the purpose of obtaining DNA, where he was released from custody a short time later.

Traffic stop leads to arrest

On Sunday evening, shortly before 8:30 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Park Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, it was learned that the driver of the vehicle was currently suspended from driving and subject to an outstanding warrant for Uttering Threats and Mischief.

A 28-year-old man was subsequently arrested on these charges and transported to police headquarters where he was later released on an Undertaking, with a future court date.
