B&E suspect turns himself in
On Friday, Chatham-Kent police released details on an incident that occurred on Dec. 27 at a Prince Arthur Avenue residence in Chatham.
At that time, two men had been arrested and released with future court dates, and a third was outstanding.
Well, on Monday morning shortly before 9 a.m., police say the third man walked into police headquarters and turned himself in to the police.
A 21-year-old Chatham man was charged with breaking and entering and assault.
Bail violation
Failing to gain entry into an apartment on Monday landed a Walpole Island man with a court date.
At 2:50 p.m., police responded to a residence on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg for a disturbance. Police were advised a man was outside and apartment demanding entry.
Upon arrival, police located a man inside the building. Through investigation, police learned the man had been released by the court with conditions not to communicate with a man or be within 100 meters of the man’s apartment.
Police say that apartment is the same one he was trying to enter.
A 30-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarter and held pending a bail hearing.
Domestic assault
A Chatham man faces charges following a dispute between a man and a woman Monday night that got physical.
At 8:34 p.m., police responded to Lorne Avenue for a domestic dispute.
Through investigation, police learned the man and woman engaged in a verbal argument that escalated when the man assaulted the woman.
A 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault.
Impaired charge
At 5:30 p.m. Monday, police responded to a vehicle off the roadway on Bear Line Road in Dover Township.
Through investigation, the first officer on the scene believed the man was driving his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested.
The man was transported to the Ontario Provincial Police Chatham detachment for further breath tests.
A 72-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with having a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
Shoplifting
At 7:41 p.m. Monday evening, police responded to a theft from Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Police received information two women left the store with a cart full of products and left the area in a vehicle.
Descriptions of the women and vehicle were provided to the police. The vehicle was last seen travelling north on St. Clair Street.
Police located the vehicle on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg and conducted a traffic stop. Both women were arrested and transported to police headquarters, and the vehicle was towed.
A 34-year-old Chatham woman and a 37-year-old Chatham-Kent woman were charged with theft and possession of the stolen property.
