Once again, Chatham-Kent has pulled together to help lost, abandoned and surrendered animals by contributing to the Under One Roof Campaign.
The annual fundraiser for the Pet and Wildfire Rescue campaign ran from Oct. 1 to Nov. 16 and raised more than $15,000.
The money will be used to fund daily animal care and replenish the agency’s emergency medical fund.
In a media release, PAWR operations manager Myriam Armstrong said the campaign “came at a time when it most needed,” as the shelter was full.
“We are humbled by the overwhelming, but not surprising, support of our community,” Armstrong said, adding the monies raised by Under One Roof allows PAWR to continue to provide daily care and help pay for emergency cases, meaning the organization won’t have to fundraise for each individual case.
