B&E arrest in Chatham
A single fingerprint ultimately led to charges against a Chatham man this week.
On Nov. 1, police investigated a break and enter at a residence on Pine Street in Chatham. Someone stole around $10,000 in personal property from the home.
A crime scene officer processed the resident and lifted a fingerprint. This print was passed onto the Chatham-Kent police forensic investigators, who matched it with an individual who was on file.
Police were not able to locate this man for some time and so a warrant was issued for his arrest.
At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, police tracked down their suspect on Adelaide Street in Chatham where he was arrested.
A 28-year-old Chatham man faces charges of breaking and entering.
Collision leads to impaired charge
A Kingsville man faces charges following an accident on Middle Line near Tilbury Wednesday night.
According to officers on the scene, a vehicle was speeding on Middle Line, when it rear-ended another vehicle. The accident occurred about 6:10 p.m.
One of the officers who talked to the driver believed him to be intoxicated. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
A 57-year-old Kingsville man is charged with blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
