The Kent Federation of Agriculture will play host to an all-candidates night for the municipal election.
The KFA will host the event Oct. 4 at the Portuguese Canadian Club on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.
Running from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the meet and greet is a chance for residents to attend at their convenience during those hours to speak to candidates for their respective ward, as well as the mayoral candidates.
According to the KFA, it’s a chance for the public to meet one-on-one with candidates.
“Hear their ideas. Share what matters to you,” the KFA said in a media release.
Candidate introductions take place at 6:30 p.m. for Ward 1, 7 p.m. for Ward 2, 7:30 p.m. for Ward 3, 8:30 p.m. for Ward 4, 8:45 p.m. for Ward 5 (where incumbents Carmen McGregor and Aaron Hall are acclaimed), and 9 p.m. for Ward 6.
The mayoral candidates will be introduced at 8 p.m.
A reminder that Internet voting runs from Oct. 3-16, the advance polls take place Oct. 13-15, while Election Day is Oct. 24.
I wished to have a complete list of the All Candidates Nights for Ward 3: Locations and time. My phone calls to 311 (Chatham-Kent) yielded a response that “we will get back to you”. Three attempts at the same question returned the same response, but no one ever contacted me — by telephone (with an answering service) or by email. Even if the All Candidates Nights for Ward 3 may have ended, I wish to express my concern to Mayor and Council, in written format via Canada Post. I would appreciate knowing, again, the times and locations.
