The main road between Leamington and Wheatley is closed this morning due to a fatal crash.
Police are on the scene of the three-vehicle crash that killed two people.
According to the OPP, the crash occurred on Essex County Road 34 between Leamington and Wheatley shortly before 7 a.m. when an eastbound pickup crossed the centre line and sideswiped a utility van before hitting a westbound sedan head on.
The two occupants in the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup was taken to hospital in Windsor with serious injuries, while the driver of the van was not hurt.
The OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision investigators are currently on scene.
Essex County Road 34 between Essex County Road 37 and Essex County Road 21 is currently closed in both directions.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
