Man hits cop car, charged with impaired
A Sunday drive wound up seeing two people sent to hospital, including a police officer, and impaired charges laid after someone veered into a police cruiser.
Yesterday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police responded to the report of a possible impaired driver on Longwoods Road between Kent Bridge Road and Huffs Side Road.
As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, as the car was veering into oncoming traffic, the man struck a cruiser.
Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.
The man and one officer were transported to hospital for medical attention. Both were treated and released.
An 85-year-old Chatham man is charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
Drug charges
Yesterday afternoon, police located a man on Inshes Avenue in Chatham who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
A 26-year-old Chatham man is charged with drug possession.
Domestic assault
Yesterday morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance in a parking lot in Wallaceburg.
Through investigation, police learned that a man assaulted a woman during a verbal argument.
Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested.
A 28-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with assault.
ATV stolen
Sometime between Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m., someone entered a shed on Merlin Road and stole a 2016 red Suzuki King Quad 400 ATV with Ontario license plate 2FY57.
