Assault

Yesterday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation resulting in the man assaulting the woman.

A 40-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault.

Vehicle stolen, suspect arrested

Shortly after 7 p.m. last night, police responded to the report of a stolen vehicle from a parking lot on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned that the man had visited the vehicle’s owner earlier in the day and when he left, she noticed her keys were missing.

Around 8 p.m., an officer on general patrol located the stolen vehicle parked on Westcourt Boulevard with the man sitting in the driver’s seat. The man was arrested and upon being searched, was found to be in possession of the woman’s keys.

Upon further examination of the vehicle, two Kenwood subwoofer speakers along with the control box were found to have been removed.

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Vehicle swiped in Chatham

Sometime between 7 p.m. last night and 12:30 a.m. this morning, someone stole a black 2009 Ford Escape from a parking lot on Park Street.

The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates CJKS 263.

Unpaid fines, and possession

Yesterday morning, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Lorne Avenue in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was suspended from driving for unpaid fines.

The man was arrested and upon being searched was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

A 40-year-old Chatham man is charged with driving with an obstructed license plate, driving while under suspension and drug possession.

Collisions

Yesterday morning, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Orford Road between Turin Line and Selton Line.

The driver was not injured and total damage was estimated at $3,000.

A 48-year-old Kingsville woman was charged with careless driving.

Last night, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Dunkirk Drive near Regency Drive in Chatham.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $4,500.

A 79-year-old Chatham woman was charged with making an improper left turn.
