Man stabbed in Chatham

A Chatham man is recovering in hospital this morning following a stabbing Wednesday night.

Chatham-Kent police responded to a disturbance last night between two men known to each other at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in one man being stabbed with a knife.

A woman in the home was also threatened.

The victim, a 32-year-old Chatham man was transported to hospital for medical attention of non-life-threatening injuries.

A 29-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Assault, sexual assault

On Wednesday, police received information regarding historical domestic violence at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that multiple incidents of violence occurred during the man and woman’s relationship.

A 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, two counts of assault causing bodily harm and two counts of sexual assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On stop, two charged

Last night, an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg initiated a traffic stop on Bruinsma Avenue.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the driver was currently bound by conditions not to occupy the driver’s seat of a vehicle.

A 42-year-old Cedar Springs man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

His passenger, a 51-year-old man of no fixed address was also arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions for breaching his curfew.

Fender benders

Yesterday morning, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Lacroix Street near Richmond Street in Chatham.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $30,000.

A 56-year-old McGregor woman was charged with making a left turn while failing to afford reasonably opportunity to avoid a collision.

Last night, police responded to a fail to remain collision on William Street near King Street in Chatham.

No one was injured.

The driver at fault was located and charged with failing to report the collision and failing to remain at the scene.
