Sunday night’s storm around parts of the municipality took its toll in Dresden, especially in the cemetery.

North Kent Coun. Jamie McGrail said in a social media post that the damage in the Dresden Cemetery is bad.
“I wanted to let you know that there was extensive storm damage throughout Dresden Cemetery (Sunday) evening. Numerous trees are down throughout the site, along with countless limbs broken. A number of monuments have also been toppled. The road has been ripped up and is now missing in several places to due tree roots pulling out,” she said in her post. “We have been in touch with the Public Works team to advise of the situation and they are also dealing with issues outside of the cemetery and in Thamesville. A local contractor who does regular maintenance for cemeteries has been secured to begin the clean up process.
In the meantime, we have closed the roads into the site to vehicular traffic, as it remains extremely unsafe at the moment. Should burials be required, we will approach those on a case-by-case basis to determine the feasibility and safety while clean up occurs.”
