Drug charges

Yesterday morning, Chatham-Kent police located a man in Wallaceburg who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl along with switchblade knife.

A 36-year-old Wallaceburg man was additionally charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon and two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.

Suspicious man, simple arrest

Yesterday morning, shortly after 6 a.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a suspicious man around a residence on Longwoods Road.

Through investigation, police learned that the homeowner observed the man near his van outside. When the homeowner approached the man, he became belligerent and aggressive. The homeowner returned into the house and called 911.

Officers located the man inside the van with the ignition damaged.

A 49-year-old Moraviantown man was arrested and charged with theft over $5,000, mischief over $5,000 and assault.

Non-compliant

On April 22, a man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Wheatley woman or attend her residence.

On Friday night, the man attended the woman’s home. Police were notified of the incident on Saturday.

Yesterday morning, police located the man and he was arrested.

A 57-year-old Wheatley man has been charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

Unloading at Loaded 2 Go

Chatham-Kent police are looking for whoever broke into a downtown restaurant over the weekend.

On April 24 at approximately 7:21 a.m., police responded to Loaded 2 Go on King Street West in Chatham. The store window had been broken and items removed from the store.

Another business B&E

Another downtown business was hit about six hours earlier, police report.

At approximately 1:08 a.m. on April 24, police responded to an alarm call at Cellular Magician on Fourth Street in Chatham.

It was determined that a window had been broken and entry gained to the business. Several items had been removed for the store.
