A local insurance company has helped ensure the Mobile Market will remain open.
Howard Mutual recently donated $20,000 to fund the Mobile Market. The funds from this donation will ensure the market can remain affordable and continue to support small farmers across Chatham-Kent.
“We are very grateful for this donation from Howard Mutual,” said Phillip Mock, project co-ordinator of the Prosperity Roundtable, in a media release. “They, like us, understand the importance of everyone having the right to affordable, fresh, and local produce.”
As Mobile Market moves into the summer months and local produce becomes more readily available, the majority of this donation will go towards the purchase of produce from small local farmers who have been hardest hit during the pandemic.
“We want to support the small local farmers in our community who are the backbone of Chatham-Kent,” said Heather Tulloch, community food connector the Mobile Market. “We have built some amazing partnerships over the last eight months and we will continue to support local.”
