Four charged in drug raid
Four Chatham-Kent residents, ranging in age between 28 and 40, will have to answer to drug charges following a bust Thursday in Chatham.
Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence in Chatham.
A quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone and oxycodone was seized, along with digital scales, debt lists and large amount of Canadian cash.
Four people – a 40-year-old Chatham man, two Chatham women, 29 and 28, and a 37-year-old Dresden woman – are charged with five counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
On top of that, the 29-year-old Chatham woman faces three counts of failing to comply with her release conditions.
The 37-year-old Dresden woman was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Fiery family feud
Late Wednesday afternoon, emergency crews responded to an RV trailer fire in Raleigh Township.
Through investigation, police learned that the fire was intentionally set while two family members were inside the trailer. They were able to safely escape as the fire spread to a nearby SUV.
While the family member was attempting to extinguish the fire, police say a man assaulted him.
Total damage was estimated at $10,000.
Early this morning, a 34-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with assault and two counts of arson – disregard for human life. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
LCBO door smashed
Around 3 a.m. this morning, police responded to an alarm at the LCBO on Wellington Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, police identified the man responsible for smashing the glass in the front door.
A 28-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000. He remains in police custody this morning.
Non-compliance
On April 1, a man was released from Court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that the man was not to be near a specific Chatham woman’s residence.
Yesterday, the man was observed walking in the area of the woman’s home.
A 28-year-old North Thorold man was arrested and charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
$50,000 crash
Shortly after 11:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a single motor-vehicle collision on Murray Street in Wallaceburg.
Through investigation, police learned that the man lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $50,000.
The driver, a 66-year-old Chatham man, was charged with careless driving.
Tools stolen
Sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, someone stole approximately $10,000 worth of tools from a property on Wellington Street in Dresden
