Did he miss the jail cell?

A man, only recently released from custody, ran afoul of the law not once, but twice yesterday.

On March 17, 2021 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Wallaceburg man.

Yesterday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police say the man attended the area where the Wallaceburg man lives and yelled at him while in the parking lot.

Police were called and the man was arrested. While in custody, the man caused approximately $500 to the rear of the cruiser.

A 26-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and mischief. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and released from Court with several conditions.

Mere hours later, last night, the man returned to the same area in Wallaceburg regardless of being on conditions not to attend that area. He was arrested again and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Assault charges

Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Tilbury.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument between two men, known to each other, resulted in the accused spitting in the victim’s face.

A 34-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Theft, fraud charges

Early Monday morning, unknown suspect(s) entered two vehicles in the Daylight Point and Twilight Trail area in Chatham. A truck was also stolen from the neighbourhood.

The suspect(s) used a stolen credit card from one of the vehicles to make several purchases at gas stations and convenience stores in Chatham.

The stolen truck was later found abandoned in a parking lot on Tweedsmuir Avenue with significant damage.

With the assistance of video surveillance, the men were identified.

Last night, both men were arrested and charged with several theft and fraud related offences.

A 28-year-old man of no fixed address and a 27-year-old Chatham man have both been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Curfew breach

On June 1, 2020 a woman was released from Court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was to obey a daily curfew of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Around 12:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious man and woman in the area of Erie Street North in Wheatley.

Police located the pair and through investigation, learned that the woman was currently bound by a curfew.

A 40-year-old Wheatley woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions.

The woman was also wanted by OPP and turned over to OPP officers for court purposes.
