Four of Chatham-Kent’s school boards will begin voluntary asymptotic COVID-19 testing on March 21.
The Lambton Kent District School Board, St. Clair Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire catholique
Providence and Conseil scolaire Viamonde, in partnership with Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School
Services (CKLASS), will be launching the testing for students and its staff at Ursuline College Chatham Catholic Secondary School.
The school is located at 85 Grand Avenue West, Chatham, and testing will be conducted between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
“Following a successful launch last weekend in Sarnia, we are pleased to move forward with voluntary
asymptomatic COVID-19 testing for students and school staff in Chatham-Kent on March 21,” said Kent Orr,
general manager of CKLASS.
The move comes after the Ministry of Education directed that voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing of students and staff will be conducted in Ontario schools.
Officials said testing is also available to children and staff from childcare centres located inside schools, as well as school
bus drivers. The following schools and associated child care locations will be invited to participate in the March 21 voluntary
asymptomatic COVID-19 testing:
- Ursuline College Chatham Catholic Secondary School (also the testing location)
- Tecumseh Public School & Growing Together Family Resource Centre
- Monsignor Uyen Catholic School & YMCA Child Care (including Our Lady of Fatima site)
- Ecole elementaire catholique Sainte-Marie & Tilbury Tots
Officials are asking that parents bring their children’s health cards and that they wear a mask.
