Fairfield Park nursing home in Wallaceburg is now up to 23 active cases of COVID-19.
That’s up from five from a day earlier.
Overall statistics from CK Public Health indicate we saw 18 new cases in the past 24 hours, while eight were listed as resolved, bringing our total active caseload back over 100, to 103.
Tilbury Manor and Meadow Park nursing home in Chatham are the two other seniors homes in Chatham-Kent listed by Public Health as being in outbreak. Both homes report just one active case.
One school – Lambton Kent Composite School in Dresden – is also on Public Health’s outbreak list, despite the face schools are essentially closed. There is a report of two people having COVID at that school.
Public Health also lists outbreaks at three congregate living locations and four workplaces
Three residents remain in hospital locally due to COVID-19.
A total of five C-K residents have died since the onset of the virus in early 2020.
The first shipment of the Moderna vaccine arrived in the municipality Monday and hundreds of doses have been given in local nursing homes already.
