Drug charges
Last night, a Chatham-Kent police officer on general patrol observed a car travelling eastbound on Park Avenue East in Chatham with an excessively loud muffler. A traffic stop was initiated on Creek Road.
Through investigation, police observed cannabis and a glass crack pipe in plain view. Both the driver and passenger were arrested.
A search incident to arrest revealed that the passenger was in possession of suspected fentanyl.
The driver, a 40-year-old Thamesville man, was charged with drug possession, driving with cannabis readily available, driving with a dirty plate and improper muffler.
The passenger, a 24-year-old Chatham woman, was charged with drug possession.
B&E at construction site
Sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning, someone entered a residence under construction on Goodbrand Line, causing about $1,000 damage.
Once inside, the suspect(s) stole $5,000 worth of building products.

Tools stolen
Sometime between Sunday at 11 p.m. and yesterday at 6 a.m., someone forced their way into a barn on Talbot Trail, causing about $400 damage.
Once inside, the suspect(s) stole two Milwaukee battery chargers and two socket sets. Total value of the theft has been estimated at $350.

Expensive attempt at theft
Sometime over the weekend, someone attempted to enter the storage compartments of three trucks parked in a fenced compound of a business on Riverview Drive.
Damage to the vehicles has been estimated at $5,000.

B&Es in Wheatley
Sometime early Monday morning, someone entered three properties on 1st Concession Line near Wheatley.
A commercial building was entered and various tools were stolen.
The stolen property was located a short distance away and returned to the owner.
Total damage was estimated at $300.
A second commercial building was entered and the steering column of a pick-up truck was damaged.
Total damage was estimated at $1,300.
And a storage area was entered and two separate trailers were entered.
The items stolen from the trailers were located a short distance away and returned to the owner.
Total damage was estimated at $200.
