The Wallaceburg Antique Motor & Boat Outing (WAMBO) is hitting the links next month.
The inaugural WAMBO Golf Classic is being held on Sept. 26 at the Hidden Hills Golf Club in Dover Centre.
“We are all looking forward to dusting off our golf clubs for a fun-filled day, all in support of WAMBO,” said Brian Armitage, WAMBO Director and WAMBO Golf Classic organizer, in a media release.
The tournament will begin with a 10 a.m. shotgun start and will be a scramble/best-ball format.
Cost is $100 per player and will consist of teams of four players. The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf, a motorized cart, a WAMBO golf shirt, a BBQ on the turn and a steak dinner with all the trimmings following the tournament.
To register your team or for more information, contact Armitage at 519-350-3931 or e-mail at btage@cogeco.ca.
The WAMBO Board of Directors made the decision to cancel this year’s annual WAMBO event, which was scheduled to take place Aug. 7-9, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Armitage said the WAMBO Golf Classic is an opportunity to wrap-up the summer of 2020 on a positive note.
“The golf tournament will be a way for us to capture some of the positive aspects and memories, which we missed during the second weekend of August,” Armitage said. “We’ll be able to run the event safely, while following the public health guidelines in place, and also raise some funds to go toward WAMBO 2021 and beyond.”
